WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Women’s Campaign School at Yale University today presented Senator Susan Collins with its first “Woman Who Makes a Difference” Award.
“It is an honor to be the first recipient of this wonderful award. That this award is made largely on my commitment to working in a bipartisan spirit means so much to me,” said Senator Collins. “The obstacles women face in seeking elective office are many, and they are substantial. I am honored to receive this award on behalf of a program dedicated to giving more women the knowledge and confidence to truly make a difference.”
Senator Collins, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee, and a member of the Senate Armed Services committee, delivered the commencement address during today’s graduation ceremony for The Women’s Campaign School summer session. The Women’s Campaign School is a nonpartisan, non-advocacy political campaign training program. Its mission is to provide the very best training for women who want to run for office or who want to move up to higher elective office. Every summer, the school brings women together from around the United States and other parts of the world to learn the skills and strategies to run successful political campaigns.
