U.S. SENATE CONFIRMS KAREN MILLS AS SBA ADMINISTRATOR

The U.S. Senate unanimously agreed late Thursday to approve the nomination of Karen Mills, of Brunswick, to serve as Administrator of the Small Business Administration. The vote on Mills' nomination came shortly after the Senate voted on the 2010 Budget Resolution.

U.S. Senator Susan Collins, who supported Mill's nomination, released this statement.

"As a former New England Regional Administrator, I know how essential this agency is to our nation's economy.
Karen Mills has exactly the experience and background to lead the U.S. Small Business Administration in these tough economic times.

"Karen's ties to Maine are particularly strong, and she has worked hard to strengthen the small business sector of our State.

"I look forward to working with Karen to address the many challenges confronting our nation's small business."
