US POSTMASTER PRESENTS MARGARET CHASE SMITH STAMP TO SENATOR COLLINS

U.S. Senator Susan Collins was pleased to accept a framed copy of a new postage stamp honoring former Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith from John Potter, United States Postmaster General, during a brief ceremony in her Washington, D.C. office.  This presentation coincides with the official First Day of Issue ceremony being held today at the Margaret Chase Smith Library in Skowhegan.               “Senator Margaret Chase Smith will always remain an inspiration to me,” said Senator Collins.  “The First Day of Issue of the Margaret Chase Smith stamp is a fitting remembrance and thoughtful way to celebrate this remarkable woman in our history.”               As Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Collins has oversight of the U.S. Postal Service.   ###
