Washington, DC –Senator Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Navy, in response to her request, is sending the U.S.S. Ross to Portsmouth in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Portsmouth. The ship will be docked in Portsmouth from August 5-8.

"It is especially meaningful to have a Navy ship docked in Portsmouth during the Centennial Celebration of the Treaty of Portsmouth. The landmark Treaty put an end to the Russo-Japanese War. The negotiations, hosted by the U.S. Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, are credited with forever changing international peace negotiations. The ship visit will give attendees the opportunity to honor the U.S. Navy's efforts during the Treaty 100 years ago and its ongoing efforts today."
