WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) announced today that the Maine Technology Institute (MTI) has awarded more than $145,000 in seed grants to 15 Maine companies for research and development efforts. The MTI funds have been matched by over $195,000 in R&D investments by the recipients.
“We are pleased to see support for innovative research and development projects in Maine,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “These are important contributions to our state’s increasingly dynamic and prosperous economy, and we welcome other efforts in the technology-related sector.”
The funding will be distributed as follows:
(1) $10,000 to Quantrix in Portland.
(2) $9,988 to Spinney Creek Shellfish, Inc. in Eliot.
(3) $10,000 to Toms Turnouts & Trackwork in Dresden.
(4) $10,000 to Composite Housing, LLC in Durham.
(5) $10,000 to Tethys Research, LLC in Bangor.
(6) $10,000 to Stormwater360 in Scarborough.
(7) $10,000 to Alba-Technic, LLC in Arundel.
(8) $10,000 to AquaProducts in Portland.
(9) $6,000 to Solstice Corporation in Portland.
(10) $9,390 to Tirranna in Orono.
(11) $10,000 to OMNI-Wifi, Inc. in Machias.
(12) $10,000 to RETRAX, Inc. in Caribou.
(13) $10,000 to Bar Harbor Biotechnology in Salsbury Cove.
(14) $9,730 to Commonwealth Software in Portland.
(15) $10,000 to Open Gate Technologies in Portland.
The Maine Technology Institute is a state funded, private non-profit organization that offers early-stage, patient capital, and commercialization assistance for the research and development of innovative, technology based projects that create new products and services, thereby generating jobs in the state of Maine.
