Snowe, Collins Announce More Than $600,000 In Funding To Maine Airports

            WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $603,861 to several airports around Maine.

            “It is important that we continually invest in and improve Maine's airports, both big and small, so that we may enhance and maintain critical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operations at all of these airports," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.

Funding will be distributed as follows:

• $304,461 to Hancock County.  This funding will be used to help fund the design of the terminal building expansion project at the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport.
• $122,400 to the Town of Dexter.  This funding will be use for the design phase of an apron rehabilitation project at Dexter Regional Airport.
• $150,000 to the City of Eastport.   This funding will be used to acquire snow removal equipment and a truck with plow, to help keep the airport serviceable during snow periods.
• $27,000 to the Town of Millinocket.  This funding will be used to update the existing master plan at the Millinocket Municipal Airport to help identify future airport needs.
