SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $250,000 IN USDA FUNDING

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the Aroostook Home Care Agency will receive a total of $264,448 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program to assist in medical technology development.

"This funding is vital to improving the quality of medical services and technology available to rural families throughout Maine." Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "More accessible healthcare and greater educational resources are critical to ensuring improved and more reliable services for those who need them most."

Aroostook Home Care Agency (AHCA) is a home care agency that provides a full range of professional home health and supportive services. AHCA has served Aroostook County since 1965.

The Distance Learning Telemedicine(DLT) Program is designed to meet the education and health care needs of rural America. The Program funds the use of advanced telecommunications technologies to help communities meet those needs.
