WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that Maine has received $168,223 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. The grant was awarded to the Passamaquoddy Tribe on the Pleasant Point Reservation. The funds will be used toward a full year, part day Head Start program.
"Head Start programs are essential to young children during the impressionable period prior to elementary school," Senators Snowe and Collins said. "The children on the Pleasant Point Reservation will benefit tremendously from the federal funds allocated toward a Head Start program in their community." ###
