The Rural Development program provides communities with financial support for essential public facilities and services such as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities, and electric and telephone service.
The funds announced by Senators Snowe and Collins will be directed toward the following projects:
A $500,000 grant to the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Reservation to construct sewer lines into a housing development that will consist of 28 low income homes and a community center.
A $207,000 grant and a $253,000 loan to the Rangeley Water District to build a second well source in Dallas Plantation, to extend the transmission line on Cottage Avenue, and to build a new office on Main Street.
