SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $29,000 IN NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES GRANTS

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded $29,000 in grants to the state of Maine.

"The grants awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities are always welcome in Maine," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "The projects supported by these grants are consistently well-done and valuable to the advancement of the humanities in the State."

The funding is distributed to support projects at the following places:

· Margaret Chase Smith Library, Northwood University, Skowhegan, ME….$5,000

· Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME…………………………………….…..$24,000

NEH grants are highly competitive and involve a rigorous review and selection process to ensure that the best of humanities research, education, preservation, and public programs is cultivated.
