SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $210,000 IN FUNDING TO IMPROVE MAINE AIRPORTS

  U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins announced today that two Maine airports will be receiving a combined $211,250 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as part of continued work to upgrade and maintain the state’s aviation facilities.   Bethel Regional in Oxford County will receive $140,000 for in installation of an access road and perimeter fencing.  Additionally, Auburn/Lewiston Municipal will receive $71,250 for the construction of a new taxiway.   “The airports are the gateway for countless tourists, business travelers, and residents each year,” noted Senator Snowe and Senator Collins in a joint statement.  “It is important that we continually invest in and improve Maine’s airports, both big and small, so that we may enhance and maintain critical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operations at all of these airports.”
