SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE $1 MILLION IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDS

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan M. Collins (R-ME) announced today that the USDA Rural Development has awarded $1,000,000 in funding to the Penobscot Indian Nation.

"USDA Rural Development funds play a vital role in generating projects which enhance Maine's rural communities," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement The following have been awarded funding:

• Penobscot Indian Nation has been awarded a loan of $1,000,000 to construct eight units of family housing.

The USDA Rural Development program is committed to the future of rural communities. The USDA Rural Development mission provides guaranteed loans, approved loans, and approved grants. The grants and loans are used to help improve community services or the economy.
