Sens. Collins, King Announce $120, 400 In USDA Funding To Benefit Local Snowmobile Clubs, Promote Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is awarding a total of $120,400 in Rural Business Enterprise Grants to two Maine snowmobile clubs to support the state’s snowmobile industry and help promote the development of small and emerging businesses in rural areas.

Moosehead Riders, Inc. in Greenville will receive $75,000 and the Portage Lakers Snow-Mobile Club, Inc. in Portage Lake will receive $45,400 to help acquire snowmobile trail grooming equipment.

“Maine’s snowmobile industry brings thousands of visitors to our state and this funding will have a positive economic impact in these communities and help create and preserve jobs,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement.  “We are pleased that USDA recognizes the importance of supporting economic opportunity in Maine’s rural communities.”

In January, Senators Collins and King wrote to USDA in support of the Portage Lakers Snowmobile Club’s application.
