Washington, D.C. -U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) will serve as honorary co-chairs of No Labels, a bipartisan group committed to bringing leaders together to solve problems. This morning, the bipartisan Senate duo appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and CNN’s “New Day” to discuss the need to “energize the middle.”
“What No Labels is trying to do—and [Senator Manchin and I are] happy to join as honorary co-chairs—is to bring people together and energize the middle,” Senator Collins said. “I don't diminish the power of people in the Senate coming together, listening respectfully and trying to find common ground. And what we're hoping to do with No Labels' help is to institutionalize that.”
“Our hope is that with the support of members of No Labels all across our country that we can begin a process of bringing people together in Washington, to listen respectfully to one another and forge bipartisan solutions,” Senator Collins continued. “When legislation is passed with input from both parties we get far better products in the end.”
