SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS, ANNOUNCE TAA APPROVAL FOR PRIME TANNING WORKERS IN HARTLAND

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that workers who have been displaced as a result of decreased production at the Prime Tanning Company in Hartland are eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).

"This is welcome news at a time when so many families are struggling amidst this troubled economy," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. "TAA assistance can help workers who have lost their jobs get back on their feet as quickly as possible by providing them with important skills assessment, training and job search assistance."

TAA is a Department of Labor program that helps workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or a shift of production outside of the United States. TAA provides trade-affected workers with a variety of reemployment services and benefits to help them find new jobs and get back to work
