SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE NEARLY $17 MILLION GRANT TO BENEFIT LORING JOB CORPS

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins are pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded a five-year grant in the amount of $16,858,000 to Training & Development Corporation for the operation of the Loring Job Corps Center.               “The Loring Job Corps Center in Limestone is recognized as one of the premiere centers in New England with many best practices in the training and development of their students,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “This money will go a long way in helping the Center achieve its mission of helping young people get a better job, make more money, and take control of their lives.”               The Loring Job Corps Center is a coed, residential and nonresidential facility with an enrollment capacity for 380 trainees, but anticipates serving approximately 570 annually.  Vocations available to students at the Loring Job Corps Center include: auto repair/diesel tech, computer support networking, computer support cabling, computer support CISCO, food service, heavy truck driver, health occupations, medical office support, carpentry, electrician, painter, cement mason, and advanced career training.
