SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $750,000 FOR MAINE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES

                 U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded three grants totaling $759,625 to the Maine Department of Marine Resources. The funding will be used for a variety of new and ongoing aquaculture management-related projects, including better species tracking, species conservation, and fishery monitoring.                "Our state relies heavily on the many fishermen who help make the fishing industry a cornerstone of our state’s economy," said Senators Snowe and Collins.  "This grant funding is essential to helping the Maine Department of Marine Resources implement successful projects that are critical to keeping our fisheries alive and prosperous."   ###
