SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $2.6 MILLION IN FUNDING TO MAINE AIRPORTS

 

            WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $2,641,846 to several airports around Maine.

            "It is important that we continually invest in and improve Maine's airports, both big and small, so that we may enhance and maintain critical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operations at all of these airports," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.

Funding will be distributed as follows:

·       $151,815 to the City of Bangor.  This funding will be used for environmental mitigation around Bangor International Airport.

·       $285,000 to the Northern Aroostook Regional Airport Authority.  This funding will be used to construct a taxiway and rehabilitate a runway.

·       $2,170,000 to the Norridgewock Airport Authority.  This funding will be used to rehabilitate runways and a taxiway.

·       $35,031 to the City of Presque Isle.  This funding will be used to help purchase snow removal equipment.
