U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins (R-Maine) today announced that the National Parks Service Land and Water Conservation Fund has awarded a matching $90,550 federal grant to the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands to assist with the expansion of the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park.
"This funding will increase accessibility to the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park, expand and improve the park's trails and further enhance its outdoor activities," said Senators Snowe and Collins. "This is extremely welcome news and we are pleased the National Parks Service recognized the park with this funding."
Specifically, the funding will be used to acquire 87 acres of property in the Town of Turner for the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park. The land will be used to construct a new access point for the park and for the expansion of hiking and mountain biking trails.
