SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $500,000 LOAN TO BUILD NEW FIRE STATION IN DRESDEN

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program has awarded a $500,000 loan to the Town of Dresden.  These rural development funds will be used to construct a new municipal fire station public safety building that is better able to serve the public with a fully ADA handicapped accessible building, a centralized location and have meeting/training room space.               “The USDA Rural Development program provides the opportunity for rural community services to be enhanced,” Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement.  “This funding will help the Town of Dresden build a new, more effective, and efficient fire department facility to better serve and protect the residents of the community.”               The USDA Rural Development program provides financial loans and grants to help improve the economy and quality of life in all of rural America.  The funds are used for community programs, which seek to construct or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and public services.   ###
