SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $371,800 IN JUVENILE JUSTICE FUNDING

U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe and U.S. Senator Susan Collins today announced that the Maine Department of Corrections has been awarded $371,800 in federal Juvenile Accountability Block Grant funding. This federal grant is awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

"This federal funding is critical to ensuring that state agencies have the necessary resources to prevent juvenile criminal offences," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement.

The Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program aims to reduce juvenile offending through accountability-based programs focused on both the juvenile offender and juvenile justice system.
