SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $30,000 IN TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO J&M MACHINING IN SKOWHEGAN

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins (R-Maine) today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce has approved $30,000 in technical assistance through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for Firms program for J&M Machining, Inc. in Skowhegan. Specifically, the funding will be used to restructure the company's finances to improve cash flow, improve its website, and implement promotional design to further increase sales.

"The TAA for Firms program has a proven track record of providing American employers with the tools they need to successfully compete in the global marketplace," Senators Snowe and Collins said. "This is a big win for Skowhegan. With this funding, J&M Machining, Inc. will not only have the resources to increase access to capital to strengthen marketing strategies and bolster sales but also retain good-paying jobs at the facility."

TAA for Firms is a federal program administered by the Department of Commerce that helps small and medium sized businesses compete with foreign companies by providing technical assistance in areas of marketing, manufacturing cost reductions, and the development and implementation of management information systems.
