SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $25,000 GRANT TO REHABILITATE LEGGE’S FIELD IN PITTSFIELD

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins announced today that the National Park Service has allocated a $25,000 matching grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to the Town of Pittsfield for park and recreational facility improvements to Legge's Field at Hathorn Park.

"Maine's parks are one of its most precious resources, facilitating outdoor recreation and enhancing quality of life," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. "These matching funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund will be instrumental in helping the Town of Pittsfield improve and expand the dugouts, bleachers, basketball court, walkways, fencing, infrastructure and signage at Hathorn Park, thus encouraging more local residents to be outside and active."

The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a partnership program that provides matching funds to states and local communities for acquisition, development, and conservation of parks and open space. The program is administered by National Park Service in partnership with state governments.
