SENATORS SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE $714,325 FOR THE SANFORD SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

  U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins announced today the Sanford School Department in Sanford has been awarded a grant of $714,325 from the U.S. Department of Education as part of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative.  The grant program is designed to help create safe school environments through violence prevention programs. Additionally, students will benefit from alcohol and drug prevention programs.   “This funding will greatly benefit the Sanford School Department and its students,” noted Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “Every student in Maine, and the nation, should be able to benefit from a safe school with a healthy student body.”                 ###
