WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) has awarded a $344,525 grant to the Islands Community Medical Services, Inc. on Vinalhaven.
“The Islands Community Medical Services on Vinalhaven provides accessible health care for island communities of the Penobscot Bay region,” said Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “We are pleased to see further funding for their efforts, as we believe it will facilitate improvements in and an expansion of critical island health care coverage.”
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is a division of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services that envisions optimal health for all, supported by a health care system that assures access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality care. HRSA provides national leadership, program resources and services needed to improve access to culturally competent, quality health care.
