Senators Collins, King Announce Nearly $240,000 to Combat Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MECASA) and the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) will receive $147,693 and $91,443, respectively, through the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program.

“Survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence should have access to every resource available to ensure their safety,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “The Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence have each spent decades working to coordinate local programs, improve awareness, and identify gaps in services to prevent sexual assault and domestic violence. We are pleased that these investments will help both coalitions continue their vital work to protect victims in Maine.”

This grant was awarded through the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW), an agency within the U.S. Department of Justice.
