Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians have received $141,013 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) program.
“Indian Community Development Block Grants offer crucial assistance to tribal communities working to maintain and improve housing, living environments, and economic opportunities on their lands,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This investment will help support projects that provide safe, affordable housing for members of the Houlton Band of Maliseet.”
The ICDBG program assists grant recipients with affordable housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities, primarily for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
