WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, and Angus King announced today that Maine Parent Federation, Inc. will receive $200,000 from the U.S. Department of Education under the Parent Training and Information Center Program.
“Organizations such as Maine Parent Federation support families across our state by connecting them with a range of services and education opportunities,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “This funding will make a lasting difference for many families throughout our great state.”
The Maine Parent Federation was established in 1984, and provides free information, referrals, one-on-one support, and training to professionals and parents of children with disabilities or special health care needs. The grant provided by the Department of Education will support these initiatives and can be renewed annually for four years, potentially totaling up to $1,000,000 in funding.
