WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will award MaineHealth in Portland $250,000 through the Children’s Oral Healthcare Access Program.
"Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease, experienced by nearly one-quarter of all young people in the United States,” said Senators Collins and King. “Improving access to oral health care for our children, especially those most vulnerable, is critical to promoting lifelong dental and overall health.”
The Children’s Oral Healthcare Access Program is intended to make state oral health programs more sustainable and to help institute a statewide approach to preventing oral disease.
