Senators Collins, King Announce $200,000 for Aroostook County Action Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $200,000 to the Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP).  This funding is allocated through the Department’s Rural Health Care Services Outreach Grant Program to better assist ACAP in connecting individuals with local and state-wide health services.

“Access to high-quality, affordable health care is essential to the well-being of Mainers across the state,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “For nearly half a century, ACAP has helped keep Aroostook County healthy by connecting families and individuals with health and nutrition programs.”

Founded in 1972, ACAP has provided the people of Aroostook County with services and resources that help individuals and families achieve greater economic independence. ACAP provides guidance to the community in responding to emerging human needs in the areas of community health, early childhood care and education, energy and housing, and workforce development services.
