Washington, D.C.—To honor our nation's teachers and commemorate National Teacher Appreciation Week, U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced a bipartisan resolution to recognize the important work of teachers across the nation and thank them for their work to prepare students for success. The resolution passed the Senate by unanimous consent.
“America's teachers are among our most dedicated public servants," said Senator Collins. "Every school day in Maine and across the country, educators support, motivate, and inspire our children to help them realize their full potential and achieve their dreams. This week, we honor the indefatigable effort of our teachers and thank them for all they do for our students."
“Teachers build a foundation for success that follows students well beyond the classroom,” Senator Brown said. “National Teacher Appreciation Week celebrates educators’ passion and commitment, and highlights our gratitude for the hardworking teachers across the country who enrich our communities every day.”
For more than 30 years, the National Parent Teacher Association has designated the first week in May as National Teacher Appreciation Week. The week is celebrated at the national, state, and local levels to honor educators.
