SENATORS COLLINS ANNOUNCES NEARLY $6.5 MILLION CONTRACT FOR VAN BUREN BORDER PATROL STATION

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Susan Collins, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced today that the Army Corps of Engineers in the Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded CJP Associates in Caribou a $6,432,890 firm-fixed price contract for construction of a new border patrol station in Van Buren.    “This project is an important step for our state and nation in the ongoing effort to ensure effective border security and adequate monitoring of cross-border traffic,” Senator Collins said.  “I am pleased that Caribou’s own CJP Associates submitted the winning bid and was chosen to perform this essential work.”   This facility will assist U.S. Customs & Border Protection officials in providing security at one of Maine’s numerous ports of entry.  This project is expected to be completed by May 31, 2008.  CJP Associates is comprised of three companies:  County Electric, JP Martin & Sons, and Industrial Heating.   ###
