SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS RECEIVES AWARD FROM WOMEN IN GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins was recently recognized with the Member of Congress Award at Women in Government Relations’(WGR) 2009 Spring Gala.  WGR’s members voted to honor Senator Collins for her efforts to empower, educate, mentor and advance women in the field of government relations.  Melinda Glazer, WGR’s Vice President, presented the award.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the many talented and dynamic members of Women in Government Relations,” said Senator Collins.  “My own success would not have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of many women, including my own mother, Pat Collins, and the late Senator Margaret Chase Smith, who helped pave the way.  I commend the members of WGR for helping women succeed, and I will continue to support WGR’s mission to help advance and empower women in the government relations field.”

Founded in 1975, Women in Government Relations, Inc., has more than 700 members including women and men at all professional levels representing corporations, trade associations, and professional societies, law firms, lobbying firms, non-profit groups and federal, state, and local governments.  Senator Collins serves as an emeritus member of WGR.
