SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS ANNOUNCES $400,000 DOL GRANT TO KENNEBEC VALLLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE FOR METAL TRADES PROJECT

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that Kennebec Valley Technical College will receive a $400,000 in grant funding from the Department of Labor (DOL), Employment and Training Administration. Senator Collins secured this funding to support the Precision Machining Technology Program, Metal Trades Project, a worker training and recruitment program, for which the Senator has been a long time advocate.

"I am so pleased that I was able to secure funding for this exceptional program," said Senator Collins. "This project will create opportunities throughout the central part of our state for people to enter and re-enter the manufacturing industry with high paying jobs and good benefits."

This funding will be used to support a Precision Machining Technology Program, Metal Trades Project at Kennebec Valley Technical College. The project is designed to address a critical shortage of skilled metal products workers in Maine by creating a pool of highly skilled and qualified workers for the metals industry in Cental Maine. This project aims to expand job opportunities for 24 participants.

"We are appreciative of Senator Collins''s very hard work in bringing this program to the region," said Barbara Woodlee, President of Kennebec Valley Technical College. "In light of the many dislocated workers in Central Maine, Kennebec Valley Technical College is most fortunate to have these resources to create new educational opportunities."
