Senator Collins Welcomes Searsmont Native To Washington For Summer Internship

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins has announced that Rose Hyland, a Searsmont native, has been awarded a summer internship in her Washington, D.C. office. Rose is a 2012 graduate of Belfast Area High School and the daughter of Mary and Randy Hyland of Searsmont.

“Rose is a terrific student and she worked very hard in my Portland office. I am delighted to welcome her to Washington, D.C.,” said Senator Collins. “It is always an honor to give students the opportunity to become actively involved in the legislative process and to serve the citizens of Maine.”

Rose attends the University of Southern Maine where she is majoring in political science. Upon graduation, Rose hopes to move to Washington D.C. and obtain a job working for a Member of Congress, a government agency, or a non-profit.
