Senator Collins Welcomes Lewiston Native to her Washington, D.C., Office

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced that Tom Fales, a Lewiston native, has been selected as a Department of Veterans Affairs Congressional Fellow in her Washington, D.C., office.  Tom previously served as an intern in Senator Collins’ Lewiston office as well as an intern for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee when Senator Collins was the Chairman.  Most recently, Tom was an Associate Counsel at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals at the Department of Veterans Affairs in D.C. and a Judge Advocate in the Maine Army National Guard. 

 

“As a former member of my staff, Tom demonstrated a strong work ethic, a deep understanding of the legislative process, and a devotion to the State of Maine that made him a valuable member of my team,” said Senator Collins. “I am delighted to welcome Tom back to my office, where his experience in the VA will be beneficial to my efforts to support the veterans of our state.”

 

Following graduation in 2003 from Lewiston High School, Tom attended George Washington University.  He then attended Bangor Theological Seminary, earning a Master’s Degree in 2013.  Tom received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 2016.

 

Tom served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve from 2007 through 2011.
