WASHINGTON, D.C.--Senator Susan Collins announced today that Sarah M. Whitfield of Wiscasset has been awarded an internship at her state office in Augusta, Maine. Whitfield’s primary duty will be to assist Senator Collins with constituent relations.
“Internships are extremely beneficial in providing students with the opportunity to gain real life experiences,” said Senator Collins. “During Sarah’s internship she will be able to learn the inner workings of a congressional office by experiencing it first-hand.”
Sarah, the daughter of Stephen and Janet Whitfield, is a 2005 graduate of Wiscasset High School in Wiscasset. She is currently a freshman at Colby College in Waterville where she has lettered in Varsity basketball and softball. At the close of her senior year of high school, Sarah ran for a seat on the Wiscasset School Committee and was elected at the age of eighteen.
