Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced that Emily Healy, a Cape Elizabeth native, has been awarded a summer internship in her Washington, D.C., office.  Emily is the daughter of Kate and Stuart Healy.

“Emily is a terrific student and a hard worker, and I am delighted to welcome her to my Washington, D.C., office,” said Senator Collins.  “It is always a pleasure to give students the opportunity to see the legislative process firsthand and to serve the citizens of Maine.”

Emily is a rising senior at the University of Notre Dame with a major in the Program of Liberal Studies and a minor in the Hesburgh Program in Public Service.  During her senior year, Emily will serve as the Senior Legacy Co-Chair and the ThankView Team Manager for ND Listens.  In addition, she will serve as the Captain and President for the University’s Women’s Lacrosse Team.  Upon graduation, Emily plans to teach English internationally and then pursue a J.D. degree with the intention of practicing law as a federal prosecutor.
