Senator Collins Visits Wayfair Customer Service Center in Bangor

Bangor, ME - U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Wayfair’s customer service center in Bangor today, one of the two call centers the company opened in Maine last year. The facility currently employs approximately 170 people and plans to hire a total of 450. Wayfair is an American e-commerce company that sells home furnishings and décor products, including items from more than 60 Maine vendors.

“I was delighted to visit Wayfair’s Bangor facility today and speak with the professional and hardworking employees there,” said Senator Collins. “By investing in Maine and creating good-paying, full-time jobs, Wayfair is helping to grow our economy and bring young people back to the state.”

Since opening our facility in the summer of 2016, we have received incredible support from the Senator and the Maine community at large,” said Mike O’Hanlon, Head of Government and Industry Relations at Wayfair. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Senator and all community leaders, who have been great partners as we expand our Wayfair team with the incredible local talent in Bangor.”

During her visit, Senator Collins toured the facility and sat down with a group of company leaders, including Pete Boudreaux, Wayfair’s Bangor Site Director, and Mike O’Hanlon, Head of Government and Industry Relations at Wayfair. They discussed the importance of investing in infrastructure to help grow the economy as well as the need to expand the availability of reliable broadband in rural areas.

Senator Collins also spoke with a group of more than 75 Wayfair employees. After delivering brief remarks, Senator Collins answered questions for more than half an hour about the work she is doing in Washington, D.C.
