Senator Collins Visits Mölnlycke Health Care’s Manufacturing Facility in Brunswick

Brunswick, ME - U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Mölnlycke Health Care’s manufacturing facility in Brunswick this morning to tour the factory; meet with employees; and speak with company leaders about jobs, the economy, and health care.

Mölnlycke employs approximately 200 people across their Brunswick and Wiscasset factories. The Brunswick location opened in 2013 and is located on the former Brunswick Naval Air Station. It’s one of the most highly automated and efficient factories in the world for manufacturing dressings used in the management of wounds and pressure ulcer prevention: Mepilex®, Mepilex® Border, and Mepilex® Border Flex.

“Maine is the oldest state in the nation by average age.  As the Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee, I know the importance of Molnlycke’s advancements in wound care to vulnerable populations recovering from surgery or injury,” said Senator Collins.  “Molnlycke’s cutting-edge Brunswick factory is proof that Maine’s manufacturing tradition is alive, well, and growing.  It was a pleasure to visit this facility and speak with many of the Mainers who work here.”

“We are honored to host Senator Collins and her team at our facility and are proud of the fact that in Maine, we are manufacturing wound care dressings, backed by clinical evidence, that help to make life better for millions of people from the hospital to their homes,” said Rob Claypoole, President Mölnlycke US.  “Delivering effective medical solutions that improve outcomes and offer better value is our focus. And we are grateful that Senator Collins has been an advocate for this with her efforts in healthcare.”

“We thank Senator Collins and her staff for visiting with us and recognizing Mölnlycke’s interest to promote management and prevention of wounds that leads to better health care outcomes for patients in the U.S. and worldwide,” said Mark Olmstead, Vice President Government Affairs, Reimbursement and Health Economics for Mölnlycke.
