Jackman, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Jackman, where she stopped by Bishop’s Store, a general store that has been family-operated for more than 60 years, and participated in a lunch with community members at Schmooses Pub & Grill.  Approximately 50 residents attended the lunch, including small business owners, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials, and members of the local school and health center.  She spoke with a number of residents about a wide range of issues, including trade, infrastructure, access to medical services, and other local issues.

“Jackman is a warm, welcoming community,” said Senator Collins.  “Today I had lunch at Schmooses Pub & Grill, where I had the opportunity to speak with town leaders, small business owners, first responders, school administrators, and other residents.  I also stopped by Bishop’s Store, an iconic small business that sells a variety of merchandise under one roof.  I spoke with the owner and customers and stocked up on some delicious Passamaquoddy maple syrup.  Jackman is a terrific destination for outdoor enthusiasts, and it was great to see many of the hardworking people who call this special town home.”

Founded in 1819, the town of Jackman is located in the North Western Mountains in Moose River Valley.  The town is known for its hiking and snowmobiling trails, lakes and streams for fishing, and wooded areas for hunting.  Located just 18 miles from the Canadian border, Jackman has been a popular stopping point for travelers for decades.
