Eastport, ME — At the invitation of Houlton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason Owens, U.S. Senator Susan Collins toured Passamaquoddy Bay and Grand Manan Channel with Border Patrol agents to discuss their capabilities and challenges, as well as how the ongoing crisis at the southwest border is impacting the Houlton Sector and the State of Maine.

“Border Patrol agents in Maine work hard to ensure that our northern border remains safe and secure and that crossings continue to facilitate jobs and vital economic activity in Maine,” said Senator Collins.  “I had a productive discussion with Houlton Sector agents about their day-to-day operations and difficulties they are facing, and I thank Chief Patrol Agent Owens for the invitation to tour the Passamaquoddy Bay and Grand Manan Channel.”

The Houlton Sector of Border Patrol encompasses the entire State of Maine, and the main focus of Border Patrol agents in Maine is to control the U.S.-Canada boundary between the CBP Ports of Entry.
