SENATOR COLLINS' STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF SENATOR ROBERT BYRD
U.S. Senator Susan Collins today released the following statement on the passing of her colleague, Senator Robert C. Byrd:
"With the passing of Senator Robert Byrd, our country has lost a legendary Senator, and all of us who served with him in the Senate have lost a friend.
"As the longest-serving Member of Congress in our nation's history, Senator Byrd had an unparalleled knowledge of and deep respect for the Constitution and the rules and great traditions of the Senate.
"He devoted his life to serving the people of West Virginia and our nation.
"The Senate will not be the same without him."
