Senator Collins' Statement On Passing Of Barbara Gill

          WASHINGTON, D.C.-- U.S. Senator Susan Collins tonight released this statement after learning of the death of Barbara Gill, former member of the Maine State House and Senate.  Gill died Monday in South Portland at the age of 82.

          "Barbara was a wonderful, compassionate person with a warm sense of humor who cared deeply about her family, her community, and her state. I so enjoyed working with her when she was in the Maine State Senate, serving with both my father and my uncle, during the years that I was a commissioner in state government.

          "My heart goes out to her daughter Jo and to the other members of Barbara's family. I hope they will take comfort in knowing that their mother made such a difference to so many people."
