Senator Collins’ Statement on Senator Mitt Romney Retirement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement regarding Senator Mitt Romney’s announcement that he will not seek reelection in 2024: 

“It is with deep regret that I learn of Senator Romney’s decision not to seek reelection next year.  During his Senate service, he has accomplished a great deal and has been an extraordinary member, bringing knowledge, experience, and integrity to every issue.  I have had the pleasure of teaming up with him on many important issues, including the 2021 infrastructure law and legislation to ensure marriage equality, gun safety, and the sanctity of our elections.  I look forward to working closely with Mitt in the year to come and wish him and Ann all the best.”
