Bangor, ME—U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) issued this statement following the announcement by Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) that he plans to retire at the conclusion of the 117th Congress:
“Jim Inhofe’s more than five decades in public service are marked by countless accomplishments that have improved the lives of Oklahomans and all Americans. As a leader of the Armed Services Committee, Jim was a tireless champion for enhancing our national security and ensuring that our brave servicemen and women have the resources they need to carry out their missions. Jim had firm principles, but he was willing to seek bipartisan compromise and forged strong bonds on both sides of the aisle. Everyone who knows Jim knows of his deep love and dedication for his family. Although I will miss serving with my friend, I am glad that he and his wonderful wife Kay will be able to spend more time together.”
