Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued this statement on the passing of John "Dugan" Shipway, a former rear admiral in the U.S. Navy and the former president of Bath Iron Works.
“Dugan Shipway was a great leader of Bath Iron Works and a dear friend. We exchanged messages over Christmas and again just two weeks ago when I learned his cancer had worsened. He was a terrific leader of the shipyard and enjoyed the affection and admiration of those who worked with him. I counted him not only as a close friend, but also as an insightful adviser on the Navy and other national security issues. My heart goes out to his wife, Lynn.”
