WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senator Susan Collins today released this statement after the Administration released numbers showing that 106,000 Americans, including just 271 in Maine, have selected a health insurance plan through the exchanges as of November 2nd.
"The numbers released today clearly demonstrate that the problems with Obamacare go far beyond a website that does not work.
"All across our state, Mainers are telling me that they're now facing huge premium increases that will have a devastating impact on their families and small businesses.
"Thousands of people in Maine who liked their insurance are also finding out that they can't keep it, despite assurances that they could. I voted against this ill-conceived law because I predicted it would lead to fewer choices and higher insurance costs for middle-income Americans and some small businesses. Regrettably, that is exactly what is happening. Congress needs to start over and write a bipartisan health care law that helps rein in costs, promotes more choices, and truly ensures that Americans can keep insurance plans that meet their needs."
