Kennebunk, ME — U.S. Senator Susan Collins congratulated the students, faculty, and staff at Sea Road School’s Blue Ribbon Ceremony in Kennebunk today. The event celebrated Sea Road School’s recent designation by the U.S. Department of Education.
“To be named a Blue Ribbon School is a tremendous honor. It is an honor that all of you earned by working together,” said Senator Collins. “I was so impressed by how hard everyone works at Sea Road School in the classroom and in activities like sports, music, and the arts. This designation says a lot about how this whole community works together for good education.”
Sea Road School’s Blue Ribbon designation recognizes the school's high learning standards and progress towards closing achievement gaps. Out of nearly 130,000 schools in America, Sea Road School is one of just 329 to achieve this award this year.
During the event, Senator Collins presented Dr. Marquis with a copy of the statement she entered into the Congressional Record commending the Sea Road School community on its Blue Ribbon designation. Dr. Marquis also received the prestigious Bell Award from the U.S. Department of Education for outstanding school leadership.
