Senator Collins Speaks at Greenville Public Safety Building Open House

Greenville, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins delivered remarks at an open house and ribbon cutting celebrating the Town of Greenville’s new public safety building. The 19,000-square foot facility will house the town’s fire department and police department, as well as a community meeting room.

Senator Collins was joined at the event by community leaders, including Greenville Town Manager Mike Roy, Police Chief Jim Carr, Fire Department Chief Sawyer Murray, and Select Board Chair Eugene Murray Jr.

“Ensuring that Maine’s finest and bravest have modern facilities and equipment is essential to the delivery of efficient emergency services,” said Senator Collins during her remarks. “I heard from local officials and residents about how this funding would strengthen Greenville and surrounding communities by ensuring that the Town can help enhance public safety. That is why I worked hard to secure federal funding to advance this important project.”

As Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins secured $902,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) for this project through Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations legislation. Since the reinstitution of CDS in 2021, Senator Collins has secured nearly $21 million for Greenville-based projects that will improve public safety, health care, child care, transportation, and emergency preparedness.
